Why Did I Choose A Career In Real Estate?

Good question! I won't lie; real estate was not in the forefront of my mind when I graduated college. I spent years looking for a job in my major field and came up empty handed. Then at the end of 2019 I started to get to know quite a few realtors – realtors I can now call coworkers – and I started to see real estate as not only a job but a career, a career that my coworkers seem to love. My dad used to have his own construction company and he’s built a lot of houses all over the US, so I’ve always had an interest and an appreciation for builders and buildings. Because of him, I know how special it is when a family finds their ‘forever’ home. When I decided to get my realtors’ license at the start of 2021, I knew my background and my coworkers would only help me along in becoming the best realtor I can be.

My Perspective: Why Is Real Estate So Important?

I think a lot of people today feel they don’t need a realtor to sell or buy a home – I mean, we have realtor.com now right? But, in my mind the pros of hiring a realtor seriously outweigh the cons. The biggest pro I can think of is that we abide by a Code of Ethics which includes Fair and Equal Opportunity Housing. Realtors cannot discriminate against anyone trying to buy or sell a property and we’re duty bound to report any discriminatory behavior. Everyone deserves their ‘dream home’ and will help anyone get one. Another pro I believe is important is that we get everything in writing. Most of our work has to be written but we make sure to get everything in writing. This saves everyone from hardship later – no one wants to end up in court over an undocumented oral agreement. The last biggest pro I’ll mention is that realtors are trained to get you the best deal with the best customer service. We have amazing resources to help our clients with all their needs and we’re duty bound to do our absolute best for our clients. Can a website do that? I don’t think so.
